ABOUT B.A.S.S.I.C.

Our mission is to improve quality of life for seniors by raising awareness of senior safety issues.
B.A.S.S.I.C. (Bringing an Awareness of Senior Safety Issues to the Community) members and associates fulfill this mission by working together to deliver safety seminars and symposiums and producing a safety calendar.

B.A.S.S.I.C. originally started in 1993 as VINE (Vehicle Injury Prevention Network and Exchange). Four years later in December 1997, the committee changed its name to B.A.S.S.I.C. to reflect its evolving mission. In 1998 membership was expanded to include partnerships between service providers, caregivers and members of the community.

B.A.S.S.I.C. members change from time to time and represent not-for-profit organizations (from Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area) and include several levels of government. B.A.S.S.I.C. has won two awards: the Fire Safety Organization Award from the Public Fire Safety Council and the Certificate of Excellence from the Public Sector Quality Fair.
