Our mission is to improve the quality of life for senior citizens by raising awareness of senior safety issues.

B.A.S.S.I.C. members and associates fulfill this mission by working together to deliver safety seminars and symposiums and producing a safety calendar.

B.A.S.S.I.C. originally started in 1993 as VINE (Vehicle Injury Prevention Network and Exchange). Four years later in December 1997, the committee changed its name to B.A.S.S.I.C. to reflect its evolving mission. In 1998 membership was expanded to include partnerships between service providers, caregivers and members of the community.

B.A.S.S.I.C. members are primarily not-for-profit organizations and include several levels of government. B.A.S.S.I.C. has won two awards: the Fire Safety Organization Award from the Public Fire Safety Council and the Certificate of Excellence from the Public Sector Quality Fair.

Free Presentations
Presentations are offered free to the public on request.  Whether you are concerned about Pedestrian/Traffic Safety, Abuse and Neglect, Protecting your Money, Fire Safety or Seniors' Health Issues, one of our presentations is suitable for your group. B.A.S.S.I.C. also works with other organizations willing to host a half-day or one-day symposium on seniors’ safety. A symposium often involves displays as well as speakers. If you wish to arrange a Senior's Safety Symposium

Seniors’ Safety Calendar
Every year the B.A.S.S.I.C. partners work with a sponsor to produce the Seniors’ Safety Calendar. It offers tips and suggestions for how to keep seniors’ safe in their homes and communities.  More info>
